Stockport Atlas Team

Just a quick History of our Team and Players

Stockport Atlas was formed from the "ashes" of several Teams, notably Bramhall Atlas and Brinnington.

This Team has played in the Manchester Area Basketball League since the early 1990's and has had success in every division it has played in.
They have won the Premier Division on numerous occasions along with the MABL Cup and Play-off competitions.

Some of the Players associated with Atlas have played at the highest domestic and international level.

Notably there is David "Skywalker" Lloyd who has played for GB Men's receiving a Gold Commonwealth games medal as well as playing professional for numerous seasons with some of the big teams of the 80's and 90's.

Several other "older" experienced ex-Brinnington players such as Nigel "Sid" Siddall, John Brearley and Mike "Dino" Greenough, who along with Dave, have a combined 150 years of playing experience between them, bring all this to the Team!

We also have players that have returned to the game after several years off such as Gareth Latham and Simon Collins who also bring their pedigree to the Team.

Atlas also have an international aspect to their team with Nikos Silikas (Greece) and Miky Bersani (Italy) who both currently play, along with ex-players such as Aldo Cervi (Italy) and Gustav "Must Av" Karlberg (Sweden).

Add to this the "younger" power players such as Neil Siddall & Dave Siddall (Sid's Sons), Andy White, Joe Sullivan, Richard Reid, Pete Rochford, Tom Sutton and of course our Secretary Paul "What do I do next Mike" Brookes and it contributes to a well-balanced competitive Team that no Team really wants to draw in a cup game.

They are ready and looking forward to the next Season in the MABL.
